Plant and operation

The station is a transfer station that is designed as a through station in an east-west direction. The Braunschweig - Kreiensen single-track railway line here today and the Hildesheim - Goslar double-track railway line , which intersect here, are not electrified. The Hildesheim - Goslar line crosses the Braunschweig - Kreiensen line west of the station with a bridge. There is only a track connection between the two lines in the east of the station. Today the former house platform is still available as a side platform (platform 1), a wide central platform (with platform 2 and 6) and a narrow island platform (platform 7). Access to the central platform is via an underpass that is only accessible from the south; the platform on platform 7 is at the same height as the central platform. There are two mechanical signal boxes, the dispatcher signal box is on the central platform.

Here operate regional trains and regional express trains. The trains of the RB 46 cross here according to the schedule. It is a category 5 train station .
