Alexander Wikentjewitsch Skworzow ( Russian Александр Викентьевич Скворцов ; born August 28, 1954 in Gorky ; †  February 4, 2020 ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who worked as a coach after his career ended.

Career

Alexander Skworzow began his career in 1974 with Torpedo Gorki . Here he played until 1989 and scored a total of 244 goals in 580 games in the Soviet league .

International

On August 18, 1976, he was in a game against Sweden for the first time for the Soviet national ice hockey team on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics . He and his team had already won the silver medal at the legendary Miracle on Ice at the 1980 Winter Olympics . In 1981 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ".

As a trainer

Between 1991 and 1994 Skworzow was a player- coach at Kalix HF and, after his career ended, looked after Hammarby IF , IFK Munkfors and Osterroke .

From April 2001 to May 2003 he was assistant trainer at Amur Khabarovsk . At the same time he was employed as a trainer at the junior club SDJUSCHOR Torpedo from 2002 . Between 2004 and December 2005 he looked after the professional team of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod as head coach. He then continued to work as a junior trainer at SDJUSCHOR until 2008 .

Between 2009 and 2012 Skworzow was assistant coach at HK Sarow in the second division.
