Hammarby Hockey is the ice hockey department of the Swedish sports club Hammarby IF from Stockholm . The ice hockey department, which has existed since 1921, was eight times Swedish champion . Hammarby plays his home games at Hovet .

history

Hammarby IF's ice hockey division was established on March 7, 1921. She was Swedish runner-up right away in 1922. Until the mid-1950s, the team was one of the strongest in Sweden and was eight times Swedish champion and runner-up. From the 1956/57 season Hammarby carried out his home games in Hovet, which had been opened a year earlier . However, the club was not able to build on the early successes in the period that followed. In the Elitserien , founded in 1975 , Hammarby only took part in the 1982/83 and 1984/85 seasons, but rose both times in tenth and thus last directly from again. Following the 2007/08 season, Hammarby's ice hockey department, which at that time was in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan , had to file for bankruptcy. The Bajen Fans fan group then founded their own ice hockey club, Bajen Fans Hockey . This takes part in the fifth-class Division 3 for the 2010/11 season and also plays in the Hovet. Meanwhile, the Department of the Hockey Hammarby IF takes part of the game operation and has the third-rate Hockeyettan reached.
