Mika Stefan Hannula (born April 2, 1979 in Huddinge ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Kölner Haien in the German Ice Hockey League between January and April 2014 .
Career
Mika Hannula began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of the Swedish clubs AIK Solna and Djurgårdens IF as well as the Finnish first division club Lukko Rauma , for which he was active from 1996 to 1998. The attacker then played for Lidingö HC in Swedish Division 1 for a year before running for Hammarby IF in HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish league, in the 1999/2000 season. In the summer of 2000, the right-shooter received a contract with the Malmö Redhawks , for which he was initially on the ice until the end of the 2002/03 season. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the ninth round as a total of 269 players by the Minnesota Wild , for which he never played. Instead, the Swede was on the ice in 67 games for Minnesota's farm team from the American Hockey League , the Houston Eros , during the 2003-04 season .
After a year Hannula left North America again and returned to the Malmö Redhawks, for which he played another year in the Elitserien . From 2005 to 2007 winger was under contract with their league rivals HV 71 Jönköping before moving to Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the Russian Super League during the 2006/07 season. After the season, the Swede joined their league rivals SKA Saint Petersburg , for which he scored 15 points, including eight goals, in a total of 55 games. In the summer of 2008, Hannula was signed by HK CSKA Moscow from the newly established Continental Hockey League , for which he played until the spring of 2009. He was then initially without a club, before he was committed in December 2009 by his former club Djurgårdens IF.
After a few games for Djurgården, he left this club in January 2010 and was signed by Salawat Julajew Ufa . In May of the same year he moved within the Continental Hockey League to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for which, however, he only completed one game. At the end of October 2010 he was released from work and only got a contract with Djurgårdens IF in January 2011, where he stayed until the end of the season. For the 2011/12 season he moved to MODO Hockey within the Elite Series .
