The Nybro Vikings IF is a Swedish ice hockey team from Nybro that since 2009 Sweden in the third-highest division, which since 2014 Hockeyettan called plays. The club plays its home games in the Liljas Arena , which has a capacity of 2380 spectators.
history
The parent club Nybro IF was founded in 1906. In 1955 Nybro IF started ice hockey after the IK Ymer was accepted as a hockey department in Nybro IF. In 1998, the ice hockey department split off from the main club and was then called Nybro IF Hockey . Nybro IF Hockey rose to HockeyAllsvenskan in 2002 and changed its name to Nybro Vikings IF at this time.
In the seasons 1968/69 and 1969/70 the first team of the club belonged to the top division of Sweden, the then Allsvenskan . She also played over 20 seasons in the second division and rose again in 2002. In 2009 he was relegated to Division 1, which has been called Hockeyettan since 2014 .
Home ground
The Victoria hall was built in 1962 and has since been used by Nybro IF for home games. The total capacity of the hall was 3000 spectators, with the official attendance record being 3068. This was set up in the 2003/04 season in a game against the Växjö Lakers . The Victoriahallen was the third ice rink in Sweden, only one ice rink in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg are older.
