Karl-Gustav Fredrik Olausson (born October 5, 1966 in Dädesjö ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current coach , who played 1093 games for the Winnipeg Jets , Edmonton Oilers , Mighty Ducks of Anaheim during his active career between 1982 and 2007 , Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . Olausson celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Detroit Red Wings by winning the Stanley Cup in 2002 .

Fredrik Olausson was selected as the 81st overall player by the Winnipeg Jets during the 1985 NHL Entry Draft . The defender began his career in his Swedish homeland at Färjestad BK , with whom he won the Swedish championship for the first time in 1986 . From 1986 to 1993, Olausson played for the Jets in the National Hockey League for a total of seven years , before he went to Edmonton on December 6, 1993, together with Winnipeg's seventh-round suffrage in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for a third-round suffrage in the same year Oilers was delivered. Then the Swede was under contract for one year with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , two years with the Pittsburgh Penguins and again two seasons in Anaheim.
During the 2000/01 season Olausson played for the Swiss first division club SC Bern in the National League A . On May 24, 2001, the defender returned to the NHL as a free agent and signed with the Detroit Red Wings , with whom he won the 2002 Stanley Cup . After the greatest success of his career, Olausson signed for the third time with the Mighty Ducks, for which he played another year in North America. In the summer of 2003 Olausson was drawn back to the Swedish elite series for HV71 , with which he was Swedish champion for the second time in 2004. In the 2006/07 season Olausson ended his career as an active ice hockey player with his first professional club, Färjestad BK .
Trainer
For the 2009/10 season Olausson was hired by HV71 as an assistant coach, in which he subsequently supported Janne Karlsson together with Thomas Ljungbergh, among others . He was assistant coach at HV71 until the end of the 2012/13 season , before returning in the same role for the 2014/15 season. From November 2015 until the end of the 2016/17 season, the Swede was an assistant coach at MODO Hockey .
