history

Östersunds IK was founded in 1965. From the 1975/76 season onwards, the team regularly took part in Division 1 , which was then still second class . From the turn of the millennium, the team first played in the now third-class Division 1. In the summer of 2003, the men's team was outsourced from the main club and played as Jämtland HF in Division 1. From 2006 to 2011 the team joined the Brunflo IK under the name Östersund / Brunflo IF also in Division 1. Then the license for participation in Division 1 was transferred to Östersunds IK. Since the 2012/13 season , Brunflo IK and Östersunds IK have both played with separate teams in Division 1. While Brunflo has now been relegated, Östersund continues to play in the third division, now known as hockeyettan .
