Kiruna IF is a Swedish ice hockey club from Kiruna, founded in 1988 . The team plays in hockeyettan .

history

The club was founded in 1988 under the name Team Kiruna IF. It was created through the merger of the ice hockey departments of Kiruna AIF and IFK Kiruna . The team already took part in their first season in Division 1 , which was still second class at the time , in which they were able to establish themselves in the following years. In the 2002/03 season , due to financial problems, the team voluntarily rose from the new second division, HockeyAllsvenskan , to Division 1, which is now third. The team has been active in this league, now known as Hockeyettan .
