Juuso Riksman (born April 1, 1977 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .

Career

Juuso Riksman began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HIFK Helsinki , for whose U20 juniors he was active in the top Finnish league of this age group from 1994 to 1998. He then made his professional debut for Hermes Kokkola from the second-rate I divisioona during the 1997/98 season . After one and a half years at Hermes, the goalkeeper moved to the Swedish club Kiruna IF from the third division Division 1 for the 1999/2000 season , with which he immediately achieved promotion to the second division, the Allsvenskan . After another year at Hermes in the new Finnish second division, the Mestis , he returned to HIFK Helsinki for the 2001/02 season , for which he conceded 2.50 goals and one goal in 21 games in his rookie year in the SM-liiga Had a catch quota of 91.2 percent. At the same time he came to another nine missions in the Mestis for Haukat and FPS Forssa .

From 2002 to 2004 Riksman was at MODO Hockey Örnsköldsvik in the Swedish Elitserien between the posts. He started the 2004/05 season at HC Alleghe in the Italian Serie A1 , but returned to Finland in the middle of the season, where he received a contract in the SM-liiga with Ilves Tampere . From 2005 to 2007, the national player spent one season each with Ilves' league rivals Ässät Pori and the capital club Jokerit Helsinki . With both teams he was runner-up. In the 2005/06 season he was able to put himself in the limelight at Ässät Pori and was initially player of the month in the SM-liiga in December 2005. At the end of the season he was elected to the league's All-Star Team and he received the Urpo-Ylönen trophy as best goalkeeper. Especially in the main round, he was convincing with an average of 2.03 goals against and a fan rate of 93.5 percent in 52 games.

The 2007/08 season was turbulent for Riksman. First he started this with the St. Louis Blues , for whose farm team , the Peoria Rivermen , he conceded two goals in less than eight minutes in the American Hockey League on his debut against the Rockford IceHogs . Then Riksman refused to continue playing for Peoria and he switched to the Swedish Elitserien participant Färjestad BK , where he was again able to convince. For this reason, he received a contract until the end of the season with the Russian top club Lokomotive Yaroslavl from the super league . The 2008/09 season was the best for Riksman personally. In his 45 appearances in the main round, he only conceded 1.76 goals per game and was able to distinguish himself with a catch rate of 94.3 percent, which was also the best catch rate of all goalkeepers in the SM-liiga. For his good performance he received several important trophies at the end of the season. For the second time in his career he received the Urpo-Ylönen trophy as the best goalkeeper in the SM-liiga, the Lasse-Oksanen trophy as the best player in the main round and the Kultainen kypärä as the best player of the entire season. He was also elected to the All-Star Team for the second time in his career.

After another year at Jokerit, Riksman was signed for the 2010/11 season by his home club HIFK Helsinki, with whom he took part in the European Trophy before the start of the SM-liiga season . For HIFK he was initially a regular player in the SM-liiga, but was also used in the second-class Mestis for Kiekko-Vantaa . After the engagement of Dennis Endras , Riksman was only used as a substitute goalkeeper and completed a trial training with Atlant Mytishchi in the summer of 2012 . After no contract with the KHL club was concluded, he was signed by the Espoo Blues in late August 2012 . For the Blues, he completed 35 appearances in the SM-liiga before he returned to Ässät Pori within the league in May 2013.

Before the 2015/16 season he moved to Italy for HC Pustertal , which he left at the end of January 2016. From February 2016 until the end of the 2015/16 season he was under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .

International

For Finland Riksman took part in the World Cup in 2009 and in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2004 and 2009 , but only came to four appearances in the Euro Hockey Tour 2009, while he sat exclusively on the bench in the other two tournaments.
