Dennis Endras (born July 14, 1985 in Immenstadt im Allgäu ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who has been playing for Adler Mannheim from the DEL since the 2012/2013 season . He is also the goalkeeper of the German national ice hockey team .
Career
He started his first steps on the ice at his home club in Sonthofen, where he went through all the junior stations of the BEV and the DEB. In 2002 he moved to ERC Sonthofen 99 in the regional league together with his brother Patrick. He was then brought to the Bayreuth Tigers to represent the injured 1st goalkeeper and former national goalkeeper Udo Döhler . Here he was able to distinguish himself quickly, so that the Augsburg panthers noticed him and signed the then 19-year-old under contract. Because he received a production license, he was able to go on the ice for the Bayreuth Tiger in 2004/2005.
When he first played on November 16, 2004 in Augsburg, which was also his first in the German Ice Hockey League, the Allgäu was able to book a shutout . In front of 3,421 spectators, Dennis Endras fended off every shot by the Hannover Scorpions . The Panther management extended the contract in February 2005. For the 2005/06 season , Dennis Endras had a license to support the league team from Landsberg am Lech. In his first assignment there he was able to play again "to zero", and in the course of the season he made a significant contribution to the promotion of EV Landsberg to the 2nd Bundesliga . He managed a shutout in the fourth semi-final game against the Hanover Indians and held all the Indians' penalties in the last game. In his first appearance in the 2005/06 DEL season against the reigning German champion Eisbären Berlin , he had to accept six goals. For the 2006/07 season he signed a one-year contract with the Frankfurt Lions , which in turn provided him with a production license for the EV Landsberg 2000. In 45 games at EVL 2000 Endras conceded 118 goals, an average of 2.91 goals per game. For the 2007/08 season Endras signed a contract with EV Landsberg 2000.
In January 2008, the 22-year-old accepted the offer from the Ravensburger Tower Stars and received a license to support the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League. Since September 2008 he has been a regular goalkeeper in the DEL team of the Augsburg Panthers. In the early summer of 2010 he was signed for two years by the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League , and in the 2010/11 season he was loaned to the Augsburg Panthers. Before the 2011/12 season he was sent to Minnesota's farm team, the Houston Eros from the American Hockey League , from where he was transferred to Helsingfors IFK on loan to Helsinki . He has been playing for Adler Mannheim since the 2012/2013 season . In the 2014/15 season he reached first place in the table after the regular season with the Eagles and won the German championship in the subsequent play-offs .
With 42 shutouts achieved, Endras is the third most successful DEL goalkeeper in this category behind Ian Gordon and Danny aus den Birken (45 shutouts each) (as of August 2019).
International
Endras took part with the German national team in the Deutschland Cup 2008 and the World Championships in 2009 and 2010 , where he won the opening and world record game in the Gelsenkirchen Veltins-Arena in front of 77,803 spectators after 60:21 minutes in a 2-1 win after extra time against the USA was voted the best German player. In the 1-0 quarter-final victory against Switzerland, Endras was also voted the best German player of the game with 41 shots saved. After losing to Russia in the semi-finals, Endras was awarded the title of Best German World Cup Player 2010 . He was also voted the tournament's best goalkeeper and named Most Valuable Player . He is the first German player to receive the award as MVP in a world championship. In addition, Endras was appointed to the tournament's all-star team.
As a result, Endras played the World Championships in 2011 , 2012 , 2013 and 2015 . There he mostly acted as a core force between the posts of the DEB selection. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where the goalkeeper took home the silver medal, he was the third goalkeeper behind Danny aus den Birken and Timo Pielmeier without a commitment.
