Sinan Akdağ (born November 5, 1989 in Rosenheim ) is a German ice hockey player of Turkish origin who has been under contract with Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League since 2014 .

Career

In the 2004/05 season, the 1.89 m tall defender was part of the Starbulls Rosenheim DNL team for the first time and scored eight points in 34 games.

In the following season Akdağ counted with two goals and 16 points to the best defensive players in the league and was appointed to the league team, for which he played ten games in the regular season and was used twice in the championship round.

For the 2007/08 season , the defender received a contract with a production license with the Krefeld Penguins and played mainly for the upper division EC Bad Nauheim . From the 2008/09 season Akdağ regularly got ice age with the "Penguins", but was still equipped with a production license for the EV Landshut . His contract initially ran until 2012, but was prematurely extended by two years. In 2014 he was signed by Adler Mannheim .

In the 2014/15 season he reached first place in the table after the regular season with the Eagles and won the German championship in the subsequent play-offs . In the 2015/16 season he was named DEL Defender of the Year.

International

Akdağ has Turkish ancestors. In December 2011 he made his debut for the national team. The German-Turk celebrated his greatest success in the national team by winning the silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . For this he was awarded the silver bay leaf on June 7, 2018.
