Tim Stützle (born January 15, 2002 in Viersen ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with Adler Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) since June 2019 and plays there in the position of the striker . Stützle is considered one of the most promising talents in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft 2020 .
Career
Stützle, who was born in Viersen in the Rhineland , spent most of his junior career in the offspring of the Krefeld EV 1981 , for which he was active in the school league until summer 2017 . In a total of 66 missions he collected 147 points scorer . His performances in this division subsequently drew the attention of other clubs to him, and so the striker moved to the Adler Mannheim team for the 2017/18 season . There he ran in the following two seasons for the young eagle team in the German Youth League (DNL). In his first year, in which he won the DNL title with the Mannheim team, the 16-year-old scored 73 points in 38 missions. In the second year, Stützle added another 55 points in 26 games.
Although the attacker had already given the University of New Hampshire a promise in January 2018 to play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for their university team Wildcats parallel to his studies , Stützle remained in the summer of 2019 Mannheim. He preferred his home country to the North American junior leagues Western Hockey League (WHL) and United States Hockey League (USHL), from whose teams he had been selected in their entry drafts . The preparation for the 2019/20 season took place with the DEL club Adler Mannheim. With his performances in the Champions Hockey League (CHL), where he scored just as often in the first four games, he managed to get a regular place in the club's DEL squad for the upcoming season.
International
Stützle has been a member of the German junior national team since the U16 age group. His first major international tournament was the U18 Junior World Championship of Division IA 2018 in the Latvian capital Riga . The German team came in second behind the hosts. A year later, at the U18 Junior World Championship of Division IA 2019 in Grenoble , France , the striker and the German team managed to return to the top division after four years. The striker contributed nine scorer points in five tournament games and thus made a significant contribution to the success. With seven assists he led all the players in these statistics and was also named the best striker of the one-week tournament.
