Brent Raedeke (born May 29, 1990 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey striker who is under contract with the Iserlohn Roosters of the German Ice Hockey League in the 2020/21 season .
Career
Brent Raedeke began his career in the youth team of the Regina Pat Canadians and the junior team Regina Pats from the Canadian Junior League WHL held the rights to him before he was selected by the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Expansion Draft . He finally played his first season in the WHL in 2007/08 in Edmonton and was one of the best players on the weak team with 15 goals and 16 assists .
In the NHL Entry Draft 2008 Raedeke was not selected by any team, but in the fall the Detroit Red Wings from the NHL invited him to the training camp and there he convinced, so that the team signed him for three years. Although normally players under the age of 20 can only be signed via the NHL Entry Draft , the Red Wings used a rule that allows undocumented junior players who have participated in an NHL team's training camp to be signed within 14 days of the training camp .
Raedeke then returned to the Oil Kings, who presented themselves significantly improved in 2008/09. The team finished eighth in the Eastern Conference and thus qualified for the first time for the playoffs . Brent Raedeke was again one of the pillars of Edmonton as the third best scorer on the team with 55 points from 70 games. In the first round of the playoffs, the Oil Kings met the favorite Calgary hitmen , who also lived up to their role and won the series without defeat. After leaving the finals, Raedeke was appointed to the squad of the Grand Rapids Griffins , who serve as the Detroit farm team , and he made his debut in the American Hockey League on April 3, 2009 .
The 2009/10 season he spent with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL and was used in 48 games, in which he scored 37 points. For the 2010/11 season he was definitely included in the AHL squad of the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he was then used regularly. For the 2013/14 season , Raedeke moved to the German Ice Hockey League for the Iserlohn Roosters . He signed a two-year contract and, due to his German passport, did not obtain a foreign license.
For the 2015/16 season he moved to the reigning German champions Adler Mannheim . In the 2020/21 season , Raedeke is again under contract with the Iserlohn-Roosters.
Brent Raedeke is a defensive-oriented striker who has a good ice hockey instinct, fast running speed and his strengths in the underpowered game and bullies .
