Tommi Huhtala (born December 7, 1987 in Tampere ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League since April 2018 .

Career

Club level

At the beginning of his career Huhtala was between 2002 and 2005 for the youth teams of Tampereen Ilves on the ice, before he was part of the regular squad of the first team in the SM-liiga , Finland's top division, from the 2005/06 season . In the summer of 2007, the attacker moved to league competitor Porin Ässät and completed a total of four seasons there, in which he established himself with solid offensive performances within the league.

For the 2011/12 season Huhtala moved within the league to the Espoo Blues and played there in the 2013/14 season with 23 goals and 20 assists, the season with the highest points of his career so far. In the summer of 2014, he moved to the Continental Hockey League for the Finnish club Jokerit , where he scored a total of 17 points in 55 games in the 2014/15 season .

International

Huhtala was appointed to the Finnish national ice hockey team for the first time in 2011 and had numerous international appearances in the following years. He was in Finland's squad at the 2014 World Cup and was able to win the silver medal with the team when they lost to the Russian team in the final .
