Tampereen Ilves is a sports club from Tampere , Finland and was founded in 1931 . The sports of ice hockey , soccer , futsal , floorball and ringette are represented in the club .

ice Hockey

The Tampereen Ilves ice hockey team is currently playing in the Liiga . Ilves is the most successful team in Finland with 16 Finnish ice hockey championships won. The home games are played in Finland's oldest ice rink, the Hakametsä.

Two of the team's most famous former players are Raimo Helminen and Lasse Oksanen . Ilves is also known for its large youth organization. Ilves makes a lot of good goalkeepers and attackers.

The club's women's team won the IIHF European Women Champions Cup 2010/11 .

Soccer

Only after the merger of the parent club Ilves-Kissat Tampere with Tampellan Palloilijat in 1975 did the football department achieve notable successes. 1983 Ilves won the Finnish championship . A planned merger with Tampereen Pallo-Veikot in 1998 failed, but the men's team joined the newly founded Tampere United . Ilves took part in the game again with his own team in the following years and currently plays in the Veikkausliiga , Finland's top division.
