Franz Zinner (born July 19, 1902 , † 1980 in Würzburg ) was a German weightlifter.

Career

Franz Zinner grew up in Würzburg and was a member of the TG Würzburg. He loved swimming as a boy and began lifting weights as a teenager. In 1924 he was the first German middleweight champion. Since Germany was still excluded from participating in the Olympic Games in 1924 and no international championships were held from 1925 to 1927, he was only able to compete with the world's elite at the 1928 Olympic Games. Until 1930 he started with good success in national and international competitions. His specialty was two-armed tearing, in which he set several world records.
