Career
Roope Hintz was born in Tampere and went through Ilves' junior department there . He already spent parts of the 2012/13 season in North America and ran there for the Tampa Bay Juniors and for the Bismarck Bobcats in the North American Hockey League , but returned to Finland for the time being. There the left winger was on the ice at the beginning of the 2013/14 season for Ilves' U20 in the A-Junioren-SM-liiga , the highest-ranking junior league in his home country. At the same time, he made his debut for the club's professional team in the Liiga . Hintz established himself there the following year, so that after 17 scorer points from 42 games in the highest professional league in Finland he was selected by the Dallas Stars in 49th position in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft ; as well as the 72nd place by Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the KHL Junior Draft 2015 .
For the time being, Hintz stayed in Finland and moved in the summer of 2015 within the Liiga to Helsingfors IFK (HIFK), with which he reached the playoff final in the following season 2015/16, but failed there because of Tappara . After a further increase in performance to 30 points in the 2016/17 season, the Finn finally signed an entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars in May 2017 . They then used him on their farm team , the Texas Stars , in the American Hockey League (AHL), with which he reached the playoff final for the Calder Cup in 2018 , but was defeated by the Toronto Marlies . In October 2018, Hintz made his debut for Dallas in the National Hockey League (NHL) and has been playing there regularly ever since.
International
Hintz gained his first international experience with the Finnish U20 national team , with which he took part in the U20 World Championships in 2015 and 2016 . There the team only finished seventh before the world championship title was won the following year. As part of the Euro Hockey Tour 2016/17, the attacker also made his debut for the senior national team in his home country.
