Justin Dowling (born October 1, 1990 in Cochrane , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League since March 2014 and since January 2013 for their farm team , the Texas Stars , in the American Hockey League plays on the position of the center .
Career
Dowling played during his junior years between 2007 and 2011 for the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League , where he completed a total of 304 games in which he collected 259 points scorer .
After finishing his junior career, the striker signed a contract with the Abbotsford Heat from the American Hockey League as an undrafted free agent . After some promising missions with four scorer points in eight games at the end of the 2010/11 season , he only got two points in 22 games in the 2011/12 season . He was then often used with the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL and his contract was not extended at the end of the season. Nevertheless, he found a new employer in the Idaho Steelheads from the ECHL in the summer of 2012. With 46 points in 34 games up to January 2013, the attacker recommended himself again for the AHL, so that the Texas Stars signed him with immediate effect. The upward trend also continued with the stars in the following months, so that his contract was extended early in March 2014 and validated for the National Hockey League . Dowling was thus also eligible to play for cooperation partner Dallas Stars . Nevertheless, the attacker continued to play with the stars in the AHL, with whom he won the prestigious Calder Cup at the end of the 2013/14 season . Shortly after the start of the 2016/17 season , Dowling was appointed to the Dallas Stars' NHL squad for the first time and made his debut after going into his fifth season with the franchise .
