Tyler Paul Seguin (born January 31, 1992 in Brampton , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League since July 2013 . Previously spent Center three years for the Boston Bruins , which it in 2010 NHL Entry Draft were selected to the second position and with whom he in the playoffs in 2011 the Stanley Cup won. He also won the gold medal at the 2015 World Cup with the Canadian national team .
Career
Tyler Seguin was voted ninth overall in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection Draft by the Plymouth Whalers . In the 2008/09 season he played his first season for the team. After initial struggles with just one goal in the first 17 games and a change of coach, Seguin flourished, scoring 58 points in the remaining 41 games.
Seguin started his second season in the Ontario Hockey League well , scoring 36 points after just 18 games. Because of this, he was put in first place for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the NHL Central Scouting Service in November 2009 . In fact, he was then chosen in the summer behind Taylor Hall as the overall runner-up by the Boston Bruins . With Hall he also shared the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as the best scorer of the regular season, both reached 106 points. In addition, he received the Red Tilson Trophy after the season as the most valuable player of the regular season.
On October 9, 2010 Seguin made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Bruins against the Phoenix Coyotes . A day later he scored his first goal in the NHL when they met the Coyotes again.
For the duration of the NHL lockout in the 2012/13 season, the striker was signed by the Swiss club EHC Biel in September 2012 . Since the end of the lockout was in sight, he left Switzerland again at the end of 2012. In July 2013, he was transferred to the Dallas Stars along with Rich Peverley and Ryan Button in exchange for Loui Eriksson , Joe Morrow , Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser .
In the jersey of the stars, the attacker reached 40 goals for the first time in the 2017/18 season. He then signed a new eight-year contract in Dallas in September 2018, which should earn him an average annual salary of $ 9.85 million from the start of the 2019/20 season.
International
Seguin represented his home country at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2009 in Canada. He scored eleven points and was the second best scorer of the tournament. He also played the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in the same year .
At the 2015 World Cup he won the gold medal with the national team, where he was the top scorer with nine goals.
