Radek Faksa (born January 9, 1994 in Opava ; according to other sources in Vítkov ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League since July 2012 .
Career
youth
Radek Faksa played for the youth department of the Czech first division club HC Oceláři Třinec since he was eleven . In the 2010/11 season he got 15 scorer points in 24 games for his U20 selection , although he was also eligible to play for the U18. After he had represented his home country at the U18 World Cup in 2011 , he was selected in the CHL Import Draft by the Kitchener Rangers in 22nd position and subsequently decided to switch to the Canadian Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The attacker finished his first OHL season with an average of over one point per game, leading all the rookies in the league in goals (29), assists (37) and scorer points (66) and subsequently became part of the First All-Rookie Team elected to the league; he was also represented at the CHL Top Prospects Game . Over the turn of the year, Faksa also took part in the U20 World Cup in 2012 with the Czech U20 team, where they finished fifth with the team. After the season the Czech was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2012 in 13th position by the Dallas Stars , who provided him with an entry contract in July of the same year . A few weeks earlier he was also drawn in the first round in the 2012 KHL Junior Draft , in seventh place by Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk .
As expected, Faksa returned to the OHL for the time being, but completed only 39 games for the Rangers in the 2012/13 season due to illness and a knee injury. Nevertheless, he took part again in the U20 World Cup in 2013 and once again reached fifth place with the team. After the end of the OHL season, the attacker switched to the organization of the stars for the first time and made his professional debut with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League (AHL), the farm team of the Dallas Stars. Nevertheless, Faksa returned to the OHL for the 2013/14 season, where he was given in January 2014 by the Rangers to the Sudbury Wolves , who in return sent his compatriot Dominik Kubalík and two draft suffrage to Kitchener. He also represented the Czech Republic at the 2014 U20 World Cup for the last time in this age group.
Dallas Stars
After the attacker had ended the season in Sudbury, he moved again to the Texas Stars, with whom he subsequently won the AHL playoffs and thus the Calder Cup . Due to a shoulder injury, Faksa missed a large part of the 2014/15 season, so he only made his debut for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL) at the beginning of the 2015/16 season . There, however, Faksa convinced so far that he subsequently came to a total of 45 appearances in the top division of North America and recorded five goals and seven assists. Subsequently, he was appointed to the senior national team of the Czech Republic for the first time and took part in the 2016 World Cup and a few months later in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey .
