Blake Comeau (born February 18, 1986 in Meadow Lake , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League since July 2018 .
Career
Blake Comeau began his career as a hockey player with the Kelowna Rockets , for which he was active in the Western Hockey League from 2001 to 2006 and with whom he won the Memorial Cup in 2004 and the Ed Chynoweth Cup in 2003 and 2005 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the second round as a total of 47th player by the New York Islanders . In the 2006/07 season Comeau made his National Hockey League debut for the Islanders.
On November 24, 2011, the Islanders put him on the waiver list after the striker remained pointless in 16 games of the season. A day later, the Calgary Flames secured his services. At the trade deadline on April 3, 2013, he was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets . There he signed a one-year contract that was not extended after the 2013/14 season. He subsequently joined the Pittsburgh Penguins .
After his contract in Pittsburgh expired, he signed a new three-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche . After that, he joined the Dallas Stars , again as a free agent , in July 2018 .
International
For Canada , Comeau took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2006 , where he became world champion with his team.
