The Memorial Cup 2004 was the 86th edition of the tournament of the same name . Participating teams were the champions of their respective leagues, the Guelph Storm ( Ontario Hockey League ), the Gatineau Olympiques ( Québec Major Junior Hockey League ), the Medicine Hat Tigers ( Western Hockey League ) and the Kelowna Rockets from the Western Hockey League, which automatically qualified as hosts . The tournament was held May 15-23 at Prospera Place in Kelowna , British Columbia . The tournament was televised nationwide on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada .
The Kelowna Rockets won their first Memorial Cup by beating the Gatineau Olympiques in the final.
