The Memorial Cup 2014 was the 96th edition of the tournament of the same name , the final tournament of the Canadian Hockey League . Participating teams were the champions of their respective leagues, the Guelph Storm ( Ontario Hockey League ), the Foreurs de Val-d'Or ( Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec ) and the Edmonton Oil Kings ( Western Hockey League ), as well as the London Knights ( Ontario Hockey League) that automatically qualified as hosts. The tournament was held May 16-25 at Budweiser Gardens in London , Ontario .

The Edmonton Oil Kings won their first Memorial Cup after beating the Guelph Storm in the final.

Applications

The London Knights prevailed against the candidacies of the Barrie Colts and the Windsor Spitfires in the bid to host the tournament .

Semifinals

The semi-final game between the Foreurs de Val-d'Or and the Edmonton Oil Kings entered the Memorial Cup record books with a length of 102: 42 minutes as the longest game in tournament history. With his goal in the third overtime Curtis Lazar scored the game- winning goal.
