Brock McGinn (born February 2, 1994 in Fergus , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League since April 2013 and has played for them on the left winger position since October 2015 . His two older brothers, Jamie and Tye, are also professional ice hockey players.

Career

McGinn played during his junior years between 2010 and 2014 for the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League and was selected during this time in the NHL Entry Draft 2012 in the second round in 47th place by the Carolina Hurricanes from the National Hockey League . In April 2013 they finally signed the striker and used him towards the end of the 2012/13 season with the Charlotte Checkers in the American Hockey League . For the 2013/14 season , McGinn returned to the OHL to the Storm and won the J. Ross Robertson Cup with them at the end of the season . Then he switched to the professional camp.

McGinn spent his first professional season with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL and came up with 27 scorer points in 73 games. The attacker spent the 2015/16 season equally in the NHL and AHL. He made his NHL debut on October 16, 2015, in which he scored his first goal after 55 seconds. In total, he played 48 times for the Checkers during the season and played 21 games for the Hurricanes. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs 2019 he reached the conference final with the Hurricanes. The team eliminated the reigning Stanley Cup winner, the Washington Capitals , in the first playoff round , with McGinn scoring the winning goal in overtime in the decisive game .
