After the 2014/15 college season, Pesce signed an entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes in March 2015 , who then sent him to their farm team , the Charlotte Checkers , in the American Hockey League (AHL) for four games . The 2015/16 season also began in Charlotte, but was called to the NHL squad after three games due to injuries and established himself there by making 69 appearances by the end of the season.
