Tye McGinn (born July 29, 1990 in Fergus , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League since January 2019 and plays for them in the position of left winger . His two brothers Jamie and Brock are also professional ice hockey players.

Career

During his junior years until the spring of 2011, McGinn played for the Ottawa 67’s in the Ontario Hockey League and the Olympiques de Gatineau in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . In the NHL Entry Draft 2010 he was selected in the fourth round in 119th place by the Philadelphia Flyers , who signed him a year later.

After the striker had spent the entire 2011/12 season in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Phantoms , the Flyers farm team , he made his first appearances in the National Hockey League the following year . But he also spent a large part of the time in the AHL farm team, and it was the same for him in the 2013/14 season. In July 2014, the San Jose Sharks signed the Canadian in exchange for a third-round vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and immediately gave him a one-year contract. Until March 2016, McGinn was - like his older brother Jamie - a member of the Sharks organization. When trying to hand him over to the AHL farm team via the waiver list, the Arizona Coyotes secured the contract rights to the then 24-year-old. There he finally ended the 2014/15 season to switch to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the summer of 2015 . There he was mainly involved in the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL, before he and Michael Leighton were handed over to the Arizona Coyotes in November 2017 and thus returned to his old place of work. In return, the Lightning Louis received domingue . With the Coyotes, McGinn ended the 2017/18 season, but received no further contract, so he joined the Manitoba Moose from the AHL in September 2018 . This transferred him to league rivals Chicago Wolves in January 2019 .
