Career

Josh Anderson played in his youth for the youth programs of the Burlington Eagles and Burlington Cougars in his hometown, before he moved to the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) at the beginning of the 2011/12 season. In his first year at the OHL, the right winger scored 22 points in 64 games and won the playoffs for the J. Ross Robertson Cup with the Knights at the end of the season . Subsequently, the Canadian was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2012 in 95th position by the Columbus Blue Jackets . In the following season 2012/13 Anderson increased his personal statistics significantly to 49 points from 68 games and again won the J. Ross Robertson Cup with the London Knights. A few weeks after the start of the 2013/14 season, he signed an entry contract with the Blue Jackets and a little later represented his home country for the first time at the U20 World Cup in 2014 , in which the attacker finished fourth with the Canadian U20 team . After two OHL championships in a row, Anderson also took part in the Memorial Cup in 2014 and thus for the third time , as the Knights acted as host; However, the team could not win the competition.

In the summer of 2014, Anderson retired from the OHL due to age and changed to the organization of the Columbus Blue Jackets, which, as expected, used him in their farm team , the Springfield Falcons , in the American Hockey League (AHL). However, the attacker was appointed to the Blue Jackets squad in January 2014 and subsequently made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL), where he was able to book a total of six appearances. The Canadian also spent the following 2015/16 season mainly in the AHL, with the Lake Erie Monsters , the Blue Jackets' new farm team. With the Monsters Anderson won the playoffs for the Calder Cup at the end of the season , while he came across the year on a further twelve NHL appearances. With the start of the 2016/17 season, he established himself in the NHL lineup of the Blue Jackets. In the 2018/19 season he achieved his previous career record with 47 points and also placed third on the team's internal scorer list with 27 goals (together with Pierre-Luc Dubois ).
