Boone Jenner (born June 15, 1993 in London , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League since March 2012 . With the Canadian national team , the center won the gold medal at the 2016 World Cup .
Career
Jenner began his career with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs in the Midget Leagues of the Province of Ontario . There he got 103 scorer points in 54 games in his final season as team captain.
After the Oshawa Generals from the Ontario Hockey League had selected him in the OHL Priority Selection 2009 in fourth overall position, Boone Jenner made his debut in the 2009/10 season in the highest junior league in the province. With 49 points he was the second best rookie scorer in the league at the end of the season and was elected to the OHL's First All-Rookie Team. In the following season he exceeded the mark of one point per game for the first time and moved with Oshawa into the play-offs . At the same time he was invited to the CHL Top Prospects Game . In the 2011 NHL Entry Draft , Jenner was selected in the second round in a total of 37th position by the Columbus Blue Jackets .
For the 2011/12 season, he was appointed team captain by the generals after the departure of Calvin de Haan . After leaving the OHL play-offs, the center signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets and played the remaining five games in the regular season with their farm team, the Springfield Falcons , in the American Hockey League . He scored his first professional goal on April 14, 2012 in the game against St. John's IceCaps . The following season he achieved personal bests in the OHL with 45 goals and a total of 82 points from 56 games and was elected to the Third All-Star Team. At the same time he was the top scorer of his team and the third best goalscorer in the league.
Boone Jenner is considered a power forward because of his physical condition, high work ethic and physical style of play .
International
Internationally, Jenner represented the selection of his home province Ontario as team captain at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2010 and led the team to the silver medal. In the same year he was also on the ice for the first time for Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and won the gold medal with the U18 team. At the U20 Junior World Championships in 2012 Jenner won the bronze medal with Canada, but was banned from the decisive game for third place after a stick stab (spearing) in the semifinals against the Russian Yevgeny Kuznetsov . Before the U20 Junior World Championship 2013 Jenner was again in the squad of the Canadian selection, but received a three-game ban from the IIHF after an unauthorized body check in the last preparatory game against Sweden . After his suspension, he played three games and reached fourth place with the team.
Jenner made his debut in the senior national team of his home country at the 2016 World Cup and promptly won the gold medal with the team.

His uncle Billy Carroll was also active in the NHL and won four Stanley Cups in the 1980s .
