Brandon Dubinsky (born April 29, 1986 in Anchorage , Alaska ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League since July 2012 . Previously spent Center six years with the New York Rangers .
Career
Dubinsky played as a teenager in the junior leagues of the US state Alaska . At the age of 16 he finally moved to the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League for the Portland Winter Hawks . He remained loyal to them for four seasons and reached the playoffs every year . The American had his best seasons in 2003/04 and 2005/06 when he was able to achieve significantly more than one scorer point per game. In addition, he was elected to the WHL West Second All-Star Team in both game years.
After Dubinsky had already been selected in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in 60th place by the New York Rangers , they brought him for the first time in their farm team in the American Hockey League at the end of the 2005/06 season . At the Hartford Wolf Pack , the center introduced itself well with ten points in eleven playoff games and also spent most of the 2006/07 season there. In 71 games in the regular season Dubinsky posted 43 scorer points, which had the consequence that he was appointed to the NHL roster of the New York Rangers for the first time in March 2007. He came to a total of six missions, but had to return to the AHL for the playoffs. In the summer of 2007, the striker won a regular place in the squad in the Rangers training camp and then played all 82 games of the season. He was also invited to the NHL YoungStars Game by league officials . His 40 scorer points finally brought him the team's internal awards for rookie of the year and the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award .
On July 23, 2012 he was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets together with Artyom Anissimow and Tim Erixon and a first-round vote for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft . The New York Rangers received in return Rick Nash , Steven Delisle and a third-round draft pick.
International
At the international level, Dubinsky took part in the 2008 and 2010 World Championships with Team USA . He also represented his home country at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey , from which the team was eliminated in the group stage.
