Zachery "Zack" Mitchell (born January 7, 1993 in Orangeville , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) since August 2020 and plays there in the position of right winger .

Career

Mitchell spent his junior years with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League from 2010 to 2014 , after they selected him in the OHL Priority Selection in 2009 . In total, he completed 374 OHL games during this period and posted 288 points scorer . At the end of the 2013/14 season he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup with the team .

Shortly before the end of his junior career, the undrafted free agent had been signed by the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League in March 2014 . They put him in their farm team , the Iowa Wild , in the American Hockey League at the beginning of the 2014/15 season . There the right winger spent the following two seasons. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season , Mitchell was initially part of Iowa's squad before he was called to the Minnesota NHL squad for the first time in November 2016 and made his debut.

After four years in the organization of the Wild, he did not get a new contract in Minnesota after the 2017/18 season, so he joined the Los Angeles Kings as a free agent in July 2018 . There he was used exclusively at the Ontario Reign in the AHL and then moved to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) in July 2019 . After a season in the service of Nizhnekamsk, the Canadian moved to league rivals Dinamo Riga from Latvia in August 2020 .

International

Mitchell played for Team Canada Ontario at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2010 and reached second place with the selection. He scored one goal in six gymnastics games.
