Sergei Sergejewitsch Gimajew ( Russian Сергей Сергеевич Гимаев ; born February 16, 1984 in Moscow , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League since August 2018 . His father Sergei Nailjewitsch was also an ice hockey player and most recently worked as an ice hockey commentator.

Career

Sergei Gimajew began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of HK CSKA Moscow , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 1999 to 2002 . The defender then moved to Severstal Tscherepowez , for which he played in the Super League in the following two years , before moving to their league rivals HK Sibir Novosibirsk at the beginning of the 2004/05 season. For the club he scored one goal in 31 games by the end of the season and made six assists. He then received a contract with the reigning champions HK Dynamo Moscow , for which he was on the ice in the following two seasons. After the left shooter had spent the 2007/08 season at his ex-club Severstal Tscherepowez, he was committed to the following season by Barys Astana from the Continental Hockey League , for which he gave two assists in 45 games. For the 2011/12 season , Gimaev was committed by Salawat Yulayev Ufa .

In May 2016 he moved within the KHL to HK Vitjas Podolsk , for which he had completed 85 KHL games by 2018 and scored 5 points.

International

For Russia , Gimajew took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2004 , where he finished fifth with his team.
