Sir Clive Hubert Lloyd , CBE (born August 31, 1944 in Georgetown , Guyana ) is a retired cricketer who played for the West Indies cricket team . He was the captain of the team at three world cricket championships. In 1971 he was named one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year .

Career

Clive Lloyd played 110 test matches during his career , in which he scored a total of 7515 runs . He was the first West Indian cricketer to be used in 100 tests. In 74 tests he was the captain. To date, no other West Indian cricketer has more stakes than Captain. Lloyd played his first test in December 1966 against India in Mumbai. In his first test in front of a home crowd, in Port of Spain against England in January 1968, he scored his first Test Century (100 or more runs). His personal record for most runs scored in a test innings (242) was set by Lloyd in 1975 against India in Mumbai. He last played in a test in 1984 against Australia in Brisbane. Lloyd also played 87 One-Day International Games (ODI) for the West Indies, in which he scored a total of 1977 runs. Clive Lloyd has been the captain of One-Day Internationals 81 times. His first assignment at an ODI was in September 1973 against England in Leeds. Lloyd played his last ODI on March 6, 1985 against Pakistan in Melbourne. Clive Lloyd won the Cricket World Cup with the West Indies team in 1975 and 1979 . In the 1975 finals, he achieved a personal record for ODIs with 102 runs. It was also the only time that he was able to achieve a Century at an ODI. In 1983 he lost the World Cup final with the West Indies against outsider India.

Clive Lloyd is a member of the Freemasons Association . In the New Year Honors List 2020 , Lloyd was promoted to Knight Bachelor .
