Miķelis Rēdlihs (born July 1, 1984 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League since June 2014 . He has two brothers, Jēkabs and Krišjānis , who are also professional ice hockey players.
Career
Miķelis Rēdlihs started his career in his hometown at Prizma '83 Riga . This team also took part in the Eastern European EEHL in 2001/02 . During the 2002/03 season he made the leap to North America and played for two junior teams on the east coast. At the beginning of the following season, the HK Riga 2000 took him under contract, for which he played until 2005 and won two championships .
In the summer of 2005 he moved to Sweden in the second division, HockeyAllsvenskan , to IF Björklöven . A year later he decided to move to Belarus , to HK Junost Minsk , with which he won the Continental Cup in 2007 . In the 2007/08 season he played for Metallurg Schlobin in the Belarusian extra league . From the 2008/09 season he was on the ice for Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League . He was able to improve his performance from year to year and was the best scorer within the team in the 2011/12 season with 44 points.
In May 2012, Rēdlihs was signed by Lokomotive Yaroslavl until 2015 and completed over 100 KHL games for the club by 2014. Then he returned to Dinamo.
International
Miķelis Rēdlihs was appointed to the Latvian junior national teams early on in his career. He played in 2001 and 2002 at the U18 World Championships in Division I. With the U20 selection of the Baltic States , he took part in the World Championships in 2002 in Division II and in 2003 and 2004 in Division I.
With the Latvian men's selection , he took part in a men's world championship for the first time in 2005 . He then also played at the 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 World Championships . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 , 2010 , 2014 and 2018 , as well as at the Winter Games in Turin in 2006 , in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014 .
