Kristofer Berglund (born August 12, 1988 in Umeå ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League since May 2019 .
Career
Kristofer Berglund began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of IF Björklöven , for whose professional team he was active in the HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division, from 2005 to 2008 . He was then selected in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as the 125th player of the St. Louis Blues . However, the defender initially stayed in his Swedish homeland and received a contract with Luleå HF from the Elitserien . In his first season in the highest Swedish ice hockey league, he scored three goals in a total of 57 games in the 2008/09 season and gave 25 templates. He was then selected by HK Sibir Novosibirsk in the first KHL Junior Draft in the fourth round as a total of 73 players.
After another year in Luleå, Berglund was committed to the 2010/11 season by its Elitserien rival Färjestad BK , with whom he immediately won the Swedish championship .
From April 2014 Berglund was under contract with HV71 in the Svenska Hockeyligan and won his second Swedish championship with this in 2017.
In May 2019 he was signed by Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League .
International
For Sweden , Berglund took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championship in 2006 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2008 . At the U20 World Cup in 2008 he won the silver medal with his team and was also voted one of the three best players on his team.
