KHL Junior Draft 2009
The KHL Junior Draft 2009 was the first entry draft of the Continental Hockey League and took place on June 1, 2009 in the capital Moscow . 23 KHL teams took part in the event based on the American model . Players from all over the world between the ages of 17 and 21 could be selected.
In the first position of the selected HC CSKA Moscow the defender Mikhail Paschnin from HK Mechel Chelyabinsk from the second-rate Wysschaja League .
format
The order of the draft corresponded to the reversed table of the 2008/09 season with the exception of the newcomer Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg , who was allowed to vote last. Previously, the teams of Chimik Woskressensk and Vitjas Chekhov - who had been in first and second position in the original order - had been suspended from the draft because documents had not been submitted to the league management. A total of four rounds were held. All participating teams were allowed to choose all players between the ages of 17 and 21 who had not been protected by other teams at the time of the event or were already under contract with another KHL team. Graduates from schools that do not cooperate with a KHL team were allowed to be selected, as well as graduates from schools that cooperate with a KHL team but are not part of a junior team of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation . The other teams were allowed to "protect" 15 players who could not be selected in the draft.
