Mikhail Valeryevich Paschnin ( Russian Михаил Валерьевич Пашнин ; born May 11, 1989 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been playing for Salawat Julajew Ufa in the Continental Hockey League since June 2019 .
Career
The 1.79 m tall defender played in the 2005/06 season for the first time for the second team of HK Metschel Chelyabinsk in the third-rate Russian Pervaya League . The following year Paschnin was appointed to the professional team for the first time, for which he played 44 second division appearances in that season . Until his move to Moscow in the summer of 2009 he was part of the regular team of HK Metschel.
At the KHL Junior Draft 2009 , the defender was selected as the top pick of the event by HK CSKA Moscow , which secured the rights to him for the Russian transfer market. A few weeks later, the New York Rangers selected him in the seventh round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in 200th place, thus securing the transfer rights for North America.
After moving to CSKA, Paschnin quickly established himself in the club's professional team, but also received some appearances in the Molodjoschnaja hockey league . In 2011 he won the MHL championship trophy , the Kharlamov Cup, with Krasnaya Armija .
In January 2012, Paschnin signed a one-year contract for the 2012/13 season with Lokomotive Yaroslavl . This was extended in 2013 and 2015. In 2017 Paschnin returned to ZSKA and reached the play-off finals with ZSKA in 2018 and 2019. While CSKA was defeated by Ak Bars Kazan in 2018 , it won the Gagarin Cup and the Russian championship for the first time in his career in 2019 . After this success he left the club and was committed by Salawat Yulayev Ufa .
International
Mikhail Paschnin won the bronze medal with the Russian U20 national team at the 2009 Junior World Championships . In a total of seven World Cup appearances, the Russian was able to achieve two assists .
