Peria is a small settlement in the Far North District of Northland on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is located around 20 km east of Kaitaia and around 12 km south of the coast of Doubtless Bay on the Peria River .
Education
With the Peria School, the settlement has a primary school with grades 1 to 8. In 2015, 51 students attended the school. Wiremu Hoani Taua , who later became the first Māori to be appointed head of a Māori school, served on the school committee of the Peria Native School until 1900 .
