Teemu Hartikainen (born May 3, 1990 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Salawat Julajew Ufa in the Continental Hockey League since June 2013 .
Career
Teemu Hartikainen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of KalPa Kuopio , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga , the top Finnish league, in the 2007/08 season . In his only mission he remained unpunished and punished. He spent most of the season with the U20 juniors from KalPa, but continued to play for the U18. In the 2008 NHL Entry Draft he was selected in the sixth round as a total of 163 players by the Edmonton Oilers . Initially, however, the winger stayed with his home club KalPa Kuopio, with whom he took third place in the SM-liiga in the 2008/09 season . This year he made his breakthrough in the professional field and he scored 20 goals in a total of 63 games and provided six assists, making him the top scorer of all SM liiga rookies. He was also awarded the Jarmo Wasama commemorative trophy as Rookie of the Year in the SM liiga. In the 2009/10 season , the left shooter was able to increase to 40 points scorer, including 21 goals, in 66 games. From 2008 to 2010 he was also on the ice parallel to the game with KalPa in four games for the Finnish U20 national team in the second Finnish division, the Mestis .
For the 2010/11 season Hartikainen was ordered by his draft team Edmonton Oilers to North America, where he initially played exclusively for Edmonton's farm team Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League . For the Barons he scored 42 scorer points in 66 games, 17 of which were goals. Then the Finn was given the opportunity to prove himself in the Oilers team and came on March 17, 2011 in the home game against the Phoenix Coyotes to his debut in the National Hockey League , in which he played regularly for Edmonton until the end of the season. In the following two seasons he continued to play mostly in the AHL for the Barons, but also came to another 40 NHL games for the Oilers.
After his entry-level contract expired in the summer of 2013, Hartikainen moved to the KHL to Salawat Julajew Ufa and signed a two-year contract.
International
For Finland , Hartikainen took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2008 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2009 and 2010 . In the senior sector, he has only been in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2010 .
