Mikhail Alexandrowitsch Wassiljew ( Russian Михаил Александрович Васильев ; born June 8, 1962 in Elektrogorsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet and Russian ice hockey player who has worked as a coach since the end of his career.
Career
As a player
Vasilyev played during his active time in the Soviet league for CSKA Moscow and Torpedo Yaroslavl and between 1981 and 1988 was a total of eight Soviet champions .
Between 1992 and 2001 he played in Italy for AS Varese , EV Bozen 84 and HC Bozen , where he was Italian champion . Later he also worked as a coach at HC Bozen.
International
He won the Olympic ice hockey tournament in Sarajevo in 1984 with the Soviet national ice hockey team and the world championship title in 1983 .
As a trainer
Mikhail Wassiljew has been working as an ice hockey coach since he ended his career in 2001. He was in charge of SG Pontebba and HC Bozen as head coach. In 2009 he became the head coach of the Russian U18 national team and, at the same time, looked after the Russian U20 national team as an assistant coach. With the U18 selection, he finished fourth at the 2010 U18 Junior World Championship . Between 2011 and 2012 he was the head coach of the Belarusian U17 and U18 national teams as well as the second division team of RZOP Raubitschy . With the U18 national team of Belarus he took part in Division IB of the U18 Junior World Championship 2011 and reached fourth place.
