history

The club, founded in 1984, was founded with one big goal: They wanted to put great emphasis on youth work and also give young ice hockey talents a chance. The club emerged from the merger of four Bolzano teams SV Gries , HC Rentsch , HC Jugendclub and Micky Maus .

The club should be a counterweight to HC Bozen in Bozen , so that the young players also have the opportunity to play at a good level.

The presidential office of the "White-Blue" was initially taken over by the former HC Bozen President Ander Amonn . It was he who laid the foundation for good and successful youth work. After a few years, the club's management realized that the young players from the club's youth department needed a role model team. The fighting team, which was newly sent into the race, managed to advance to the second Italian division . After a few years, the first team was voluntarily withdrawn from the championship due to financial ruin and the ever increasing transfer card player limit.

For the young talents, the “Young Selection” project was started with HC Bozen in the late 1990s. The players who got little or no ice age at HC Bozen were accommodated at EV Bozen 84 and matured there. The best known and most successful youth players who benefited from this project were Christian Walcher , Matthias Mair , Stefan Zisser and Alexander Egger . A few years later, Stefan Zisser and Alexander Egger even made it to the Italian national ice hockey team .

The main focus was then for a short time only on youth work. The most mature players in their ranks were able to collect match practice at HC Siebeneich and HC Future Bozen in the A2 series.

Women's team

Since 2008 the club has also had a women's ice hockey team , the EV Bozen Eagles , which plays in the women's Serie A. The team came into being after the dissolution of the HC Eagles Bozen , a pure women's ice hockey club founded in 1991.

The Eagles have already taken part in the European champions' cup competition, the IIHF European Women Champions Cup , and have won the Italian championship several times.

In the 2013/14 season , the team won the EWHL and was able to repeat this success three years later . In the 2018/19 season the Eagles reached third place in the EWHL in the Final Four tournament.
