Stanley began his professional career in the Western Hockey League , in which he went on the ice from 2000 to 2005 for the Tri-City Americans . After his junior years, he played three years at the University of Alberta for the Golden Bears in the Canadian University League

In the summer of 2008, the winger moved to Germany, where he played for the Starbulls Rosenheim in the league and was fourth-best scorer in the league with 118 points in 61 games. After a brief stint in the ECHL at the Florida Everblades , he returned to Rosenheim in December 2009. With the Starbulls, he celebrated the championship in the major league and promotion to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga at the end of the season . After he did not get a new contract, he moved back to North America, where he played in the 2010/11 season in the Central Hockey League first for the Colorado Eagles and then for the Texas Brahmas .

In the 2011/12 season he was under contract with the league club EC Bad Nauheim before he moved to Italy for the following season, where he signed with EV Bozen 84 from the A2 series . With the inclusion of some Italian Serie A2 teams in the Inter-National League , the Canadian striker moved to HC Gherdëina in 2013 .

Stanley has been playing for the Austrian club VEU Feldkirch since 2014, initially in the Inter-National League (INL) and since 2016 in the newly founded successor organization Alps Hockey League. He replaced Martin Tomášek , who had moved to France . For Feldkirch, he made 78 appearances in the INL with 55 goals and 78 assists, with the team reaching the final in 2015 and Stanley being voted INL Player of the Season in 2016.
