history
Elektrogorsk was established at the beginning of the 20th century as part of the construction of the Elektrogorsk power plant , which was fueled by the peat which is abundant in the marshland in the area . This power plant, which was named Elektroperedatscha , was also the first of its kind in Russia and was to play a significant role in the electrification of the Moscow region. Today's Elektrogorsk was founded in 1912 as a workers' settlement for power plant construction personnel.
