Tomilino ( Russian Томи́лино ) is an urban-type settlement in Moscow Oblast with 30,605 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The Pechorka at Tomilino

The settlement is located about 25 kilometers southeast of Moscow on the Pechorka , a small left tributary of the Moskva .

Tomilino belongs to Rayon Ljuberzy whose management center Ljuberzy followed immediately northwest to the settlement. The villages of Chlystowo , Jegorowo , Kirillowka , Mirny , Schilino-1 , Schilino-2 , Tokarjowo , Tschassovja and Tschkalowo are subordinate to the Tomilino settlement .

history

In the 19th century, the area of ​​today's settlement belonged to the Obolenski royal family. A country house settlement was built here in the 1880s. The year of foundation is 1894, when the well-known trading entrepreneur Tomilin had a house built here, after which the settlement was subsequently named.

After the Second World War , the German generals Friedrich Paulus , Vincenz Müller and Arno von Lenski were temporarily imprisoned in a dacha in Tomilino .

After 1945 industry was settled around the place; In 1961 it was finally given urban-type settlement status .

Culture and sights

In the village of Schilowo belonging to Tomilino , the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary ( церковь Успения Пресвятой Богородицы / zerkow Uspenija Preswjatoi Bogorodizy) from the 18th century has been preserved.

The Chapel of the Icon of Our Lady of Vladimir is located in the settlement itself ; There is a Pushkin monument at the train station .

Economy and Infrastructure

In and around Tomilino there are a number of research and production companies, particularly from the aerospace sector. These include NPP Zvezda , a manufacturer of aircraft and space flight life support systems , the Moscow helicopter factory “M. L. Mil ” , a diamond tools plant ( TomAl ) and an electronic equipment plant ( TSPP ) established in 1958 . There are also companies in the textile and food industries.

The settlement is located on the Moscow – Ryazan railway (route km 25; suburban traffic from Moscow Kazan train station ).

The M5 Moscow – Ryazan – SamaraChelyabinsk road runs southwest past Tomilino.
