history

Golitsyno came from the village of Vjasjomy (Russian Вязёмы ), which was already known in the 16th century. The country residence of the boyar and regent Boris Godunov , whose manor house has been preserved to this day, was in Vyasyomy. The real story of Golitsynos began in 1694, when the property passed to the Golitsyns , who have given the place its name ever since. Due to its location in the western apron of Moscow, the place was contested both in the Patriotic War of 1812 and in World War II . Golitsyno has been called a settlement since 1872 and was only given city status in 2004 by decision of the governor of the Moscow Oblast, Boris Gromov .
