List of cities in Russia |
Lytkarino ( Russian Лытка́рино ) is a city in Moscow Oblast in Russia . It is located almost 30 km southeast of Moscow , on the Moskva River , and has 55,237 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
history
The place probably originated in the early 15th century. Initially, the village is said to have belonged to a monastery at that time, which was located in the Moscow Kremlin . As early as the 14th century there were quarries along the banks of the Moskva near the town, which had also supplied building materials for Moscow . Until the 19th century, the main occupation of the inhabitants of Lytkarino was the mining of white stone. The former quarries are no longer preserved today, even if a few traces still remind of them.
It was not until the end of the 19th century that a number of industrial companies were established in Lytkarino, including a textile factory. A factory for the production of optical glass was added in the 1930s .
Lytkarino has been an independent city since 1957.

Lytkarino is connected to the M5 main road via a country road. This highway has a macabre reputation due to the particularly high number of traffic accidents that occur on it.
