Dmitri Pavlovich Stukalov

Dmitri Pawlowitsch Stukalow ( Russian Дмитрий Павлович Стукалов , English transcription Dmitriy Stukalov ; born May 2, 1951 in Leningrad, today Saint Petersburg ) is a former Soviet hurdler whose special route was the 400-meter distance .

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 1971 , the 1970 European Junior Champion finished third in 50.04 seconds behind Christian Rudolph (GDR) and just ahead of Dieter Büttner (FRG). Three years later, Stukalow was fifth in 49.98 seconds at the 1974 European Championships in Rome. At the 1976 Olympics , he was eliminated in the semifinals. In 1978 he finished second behind Harald Schmid (Federal Republic) at the European Championships in Prague in 49.72 seconds .

He was a member of the Soviet student selection for several years and won the 1973 Universiade . He ran his best time of 49.58 s on May 30, 1976 in Munich .

Dmitri Stukalow is 1.85 m tall and weighed 53 kg during his playing days. After his career he was a member of the coaching staff of the Russian national athletics team.
