Christian Rudolph (athlete)

Christian Rudolph (* 15. February 1949 in Bernsdorf ) is a DDR - Athlete , the beginning of the 1970s in the 400-meter hurdles was successful. At the European Championships in 1971 , he won the silver medal behind Jean-Claude Nallet in the GDR record time of 49.3 seconds. This time had been stopped electronically at 49.34 s, the fastest time Rudolph ran in his career. At the 1972 Olympic Games , his Achilles tendon tore after the last hurdle a few meters from the finish. Since the Achilles tendon was not torn for the first time, this meant the end of his short career.

Christian Rudolph belonged to the sports club SC Cottbus . From 1969 to 1972 he was GDR champion on the long hurdles four times in a row. During his competition time he was 1.85 m tall and weighed 80 kg.

Later he worked as a specialist teacher for law and sport at the Pückler-Gymnasium Cottbus.
