Jean-Claude Nallet

Jean-Claude Nallet (born March 15, 1947 in Champdor , Département Ain ) is a former French athlete . With a height of 1.87 m, his competition weight was 85 kg.

After Nallet became vice junior European champion in the 200-meter run and European champion in the 4 x 100-meter relay in 1966 , he also competed at the 1966 European championships and immediately won bronze over 200 meters in 21.0 s. At the Olympic Games in 1968 , he was eliminated in the 400-meter run in the semifinals. With the French 4 x 400 meter relay , he reached the finals, but then only finished eighth. This should remain his best result at the Olympics.

At the European Championships in 1969 Nallet was second over 400 meters behind Poland's Jan Werner in 45.8 s . In the 4 x 400 meter relay, he ran as the final runner. He took over the baton in a management position and crossed the finish line as European champion. In 1970 Nallet rose to the 400-meter hurdles , which he won at the European Championships in 1971 in 49.2 seconds before Christian Rudolph from the GDR. Nallet finished sixth in the season. In the same year he was voted France's Sportsman of the Year (“ Champion des champions ”) by the sports newspaper L'Équipe .

1974 at the European Championships Nallet was behind the Briton Alan Pascoe second over the 400-meter hurdles in the time of 48.94 s. With the relay he won the bronze medal. At the 1976 Olympics , Nallet narrowly missed the hurdle final. 1978 Nallet took part in the European Championships for the fifth time , in 50.10 s he was sixth again in the 400-meter hurdles. After the 1979 season, Nallet ended his career.
