Jacques Carette

Jacques Carette (born March 1, 1947 in Roubaix ) is a former French athlete . With a height of 1.80 m, his competition weight was 68 kg.

At the 1968 Olympic Games , Jacques Carette was eliminated from the quarter-finals in the 200-meter run . With the French 4 x 400 meter relay , he reached the finals, but then only finished eighth.

The following year at the European Championships in 1969 he reached the final in the 400-meter run and was fourth in 45.9 s. He was more successful in the season. As the third runner in the French relay, he handed over the baton to the final runner Jean-Claude Nallet with such a big lead that he was able to run confidently to win the title in 3: 02.3 minutes.

At the 1972 Olympic Games , Carette only started with the relay and, like in 1968, reached the final. This time he won the bronze medal with the French relay in 3: 00.65 minutes behind the relay from Kenya and Great Britain. He was also a member of the French relay team at the 1974 European Championships , which received the bronze medal.
