Jonathan Sacoor (born September 1, 1999 ) is a Belgian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Jonathan Sacoor gained his first international experience in 2015 when he finished sixth in 49.86 s at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Tbilisi . In the following year he reached fourth place in the European Youth Championships held there for the first time in 47.71 s and in 2017 he won the bronze medal in 46.23 s at the U20 European Championships in Grosseto . In 2018 he became Belgian indoor champion and therefore received a starting place in the Belgian 4 x 400 meter relay for the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where he won the bronze medal in 3: 02.51 minutes behind the teams from Poland and the United States . During the outdoor season, Sacoor won the U20 World Championships in Tampere in 45.03 s and also set a new U20 national record there. In addition, he finished fifth with the relay in 3: 07.05 min. In August he started the relay at the European Championships in Berlin and won there in 2: 59.47 minutes. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , he achieved bronze in the men's relay in 3: 02.70 minutes, behind the teams from Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica, while he was eighth in the mixed relay in 3: 25.74 minutes. Then he started at the U23 European Championships in Gävle only with the relay, but could not finish the race in the final. However, he qualified over 400 meters for the World Championships in Doha and made it to the semifinals , in which he equalized his best performance of 45.03 s and was eliminated. With the relay he reached the final and won the bronze medal in 2: 58.78 minutes behind the teams from the United States and Jamaica.

In 2019, Sacoor became Belgian champion in the 400-meter run outdoors and in 2018 indoors.
